Jane Wilson: Abstracts

Color, texture, layers and collage are defining elements in my abstract paintings, whether painted on canvas or on paper. My aim is to capture both a sense of movement and a sense of stillness simultaneously as I explore various microscopic and macroscopic aspects of nature. The elements of texture and multiple layers imply the forces of weathering, aging and the passage of time. Horizon lines which appear in many of my paintings provide a contemplative focus suggesting, that which is above ground and below, that which is in the conscious mind and the unconscious.
